According to the Reform Plan for the Beijing Municipal Government and Administrations and the Notice on the Structure of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government ([2000] No. 2） issued by the Office of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government), both approved by the central government and the State Council, the Beijing Municipal and Rural Construction Committee has changed its name to Beijing Municipal Construction Committee (hereinafter referred to as BMCC).

According to the Notice from the Office of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government about Relevant Matters concerning the Establishment of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land Resources ([2004] No. 37 issued by the Office of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government), and after being approved by the Beijing Municipal Commission for Public Service Structure and Establishment Administration, the BMCC is now held accountable for housing administration and reformation formerly under the responsibility of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land Resources and Housing Management. Meanwhile, BMCC also has another title as the Beijing Municipal Housing System Reform Office of the People’s Government (hereinafter referred as the Municipal Housing Reform Office).

As a result of the aforementioned adjustments, the BMCC (the Municipal Housing Reform Office) constitutes part of the municipal government and takes charge of city construction, housing administration and reformation.
